Operating Instructions

1. Connect the power adapter to a 220V outlet. Insert the 12V DC power connector into the socket on the pen body. The yellow LED will light up, indicating that the device is ready for operation.

2. Using any of the control buttons, select the material mode according to the type of plastic being used. The available modes are PLA and ABS, which differ in temperature settings.

(!) Using plastic with an incompatible temperature mode may cause device failure, jamming of the plastic, and the impossibility of removing it without specialist assistance.

By default, the LCD display is set to the “PLA” mode. When using ABS plastic, press the lower button near the display once. The ABS mode will be set.

Next, to begin operation, press the plastic feed button once. The red indicator will light up, indicating heating (the temperature will be displayed on the screen). When the green indicator lights up (after 0.5–1 minute), the 3D pen is ready for use.

.

3. Insert the end of the plastic filament into the loading hole. Pressing and holding the feed button will activate the loader motor, and the plastic filament will automatically be fed into the device. Hold the loading button until you hear a change in the sound of the feed mechanism and see molten material emerging from the nozzle of the extruder—the heating element.

It is recommended to reduce the feed speed using the adjustment control to avoid excessive load on the drive system.

4. The speed control allows smooth adjustment of plastic feed. At approximately the middle setting, there may be a somewhat abrupt change in speed, which is not a defect. By adjusting the feed speed, you can achieve the desired result—either higher speed and a greater amount of extruded plastic or finer and more precise shapes. The device is designed for full one-hand operation, ensuring creative freedom.

5. Materials of the same type may have slight variations in properties and melting temperature. This is due to dyes, additives, and the quality of raw materials used by different manufacturers. The control buttons located next to the LCD display allow quick temperature adjustments within the permissible range for the material in order to achieve the desired viscosity of the molten material.

6. Adding plastic filament. A plastic filament of the same type, in the same or a different color, can be added at the end of the previous filament’s feed, when its end has already disappeared into the loading hole and the motor is running without load. The next piece of filament inserted into the loading hole will push the previous one forward.

(!) To avoid jamming of the filament, ensure that the cut ends of the plastic filament are as flat as possible. To achieve this, simply cut the filament with regular scissors or small wire cutters.

Always cut off the stretched end of the filament left after unloading before reinserting it into the device. Remember that plastic of another color will appear at the extruder output once it pushes out the previous filament remaining inside the device. If you need to change to a filament of another color, press and hold the unload button. After 2 seconds, unloading will begin. Once the filament is removed, load the new filament.

7. To switch between filaments of different materials, first unload the filament, then restart the device by disconnecting and reconnecting the power plug. The display will show the ABS or PLA symbol. Use any control button next to the display to select the required mode. Once the green indicator lights up, the 3D pen is ready for operation. Then load the new material and continue working.

(!) Remember, if you change the material without following this procedure, the high temperature of the extruder may cause thickening of the PLA filament before it reaches the extruder, resulting in it getting stuck inside the pen’s mechanism.

Try to carefully and effortlessly remove incorrectly loaded material using the unload button, keeping the device in ABS mode. Do not use physical force, as this may cause damage to the device.

8. Temperature adjustment. Different materials have different melting temperatures. The device allows adjustment within a range of 8–15°C.

If the material exits under tension and its viscosity is low, the temperature should be increased. Crackling and clicking sounds from the nozzle indicate that the temperature is too high. In such cases, thermal degradation of the material and a sharp odor may occur, and the temperature should be reduced. The correct temperature ensures smooth, effortless, and even extrusion of the filament with occasional clicks. If there are many clicks, along with crackling and odor, reduce the temperature by 3–8°C using the button below the display. If the extruded material is dense, the surface is dull, and the motor operates under load, increase the temperature by 3–5°C using the button above the display. Depending on the type of material and its manufacturer, operating modes should be selected individually.

(!) Please note that to avoid device damage and to achieve a high-quality result, it is recommended to use the plastic specified by the manufacturer.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter difficulties while using the pen, refer to the table below to try to resolve the issues yourself.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Power supply failureFaulty power adapter. Motherboard problems. Output malfunction.Repair or replace the power supply. Repair or replace the main board.
The nozzle is hot, but no plastic comes out. When pressing the plastic feed button, the motor operates under load and clicking sounds are heard.Nozzle blockage, ingress of shavings or debris into the feed mechanism, filament defect (possible diameter increase). Filament jammed in the feed mechanism, motherboard problems. If possible, increase the nozzle temperature. By alternately pressing the feed and unload buttons, try to free the filament. During unloading, you may gently pull the filament by hand to remove the damaged material. Turn off the device and allow it to cool, remove the heating block as described in the manual, and carefully clear the nozzle of jammed filament. Then remove any remaining filament from the rest of the pen. Requires servicing at an authorized center.
No heating, red LED remains constantly lit, indicating that the device is trying to heat the extruder.Damaged heater, board malfunction.Contact a service center.

(!) Note: Disassembly and repair of the power supply unit by the user are strictly prohibited!
