To speed up the transmission of information, operators of personal radio stations in Western countries use special abbreviations known as "10-codes". These codes are usually published in the descriptions of radio stations intended for personal radio communication.
The rather unusual combination of the number "10" with other numbers is apparently due to the fact that "ten" in English is pronounced very briefly – "ten", so in our practice these codes can be called "Ten-codes":
