The Level 2 of the Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) standard is intended for professional portable radios, mobile radios, and repeaters operating in licensed VHF and UHF frequency ranges. It uses a 12.5 kHz channel bandwidth with TDMA access. This includes conventional DMR Tier II systems — professional conventional radio communication systems with mobile and portable radios operating in the extended frequency range of 66–960 MHz. The ETSI DMR Tier II standard targets users who require efficient frequency utilization, enhanced voice communication capabilities, and integrated data services within licensed frequency bands for high-performance communication systems. ETSI DMR Tier II specifies a two-slot TDMA mode in a single 12.5 kHz radio channel. Products compliant with this standard are already commercially available.
