Technological enhancement of the 3G standard to provide higher data transmission speed from the subscriber to the base station

HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access) – high-speed packet data transmission from a mobile phone to a base station — is a mobile communication data transfer protocol of 3G (third generation) from the HSPA family. The technological enhancements HSDPA and HSUPA are extensions of the 3G standard (WCDMA/UMTS) to provide higher data transmission rates through the use of more advanced modulation methods.

Theoretically, the HSUPA standard is designed for a maximum uplink data transmission speed of up to 5.7 Mbit/s, thereby enabling the use of third-generation applications that require handling of large data streams from a mobile device to a base station, such as video conferencing.
