How to disable the exit button when using contact TM readers on the controllerx
To disable the exit button, a network controller with software configuration is required (Z-5R Net with "Extended" firmware, Z-5R WEB, Matrix-II Wi-Fi). These controllers allow software configuration in Guard Light software for any operating mode, including disabling the door release button. Configuration is performed in the controller’s software configuration in Guard Light. The connection diagram is also available in Guard Light. The exit button must be removed from the wiring diagram to the configuration buffer (field on the right), then click “OK” and “Save.” The button will be disabled.
Using network controllers and GuardLight software. After enabling the fire mode in GuardLight, the controllers do not exit it and continuously beep.
The cause may be a weak power supply unit for the controllers. When multiple electromagnetic locks were triggered in fire mode, the supply voltage dropped to a critical minimum, causing the controllers to freeze.

Set jumper No. 1 (X4) on the converter to “normal,” jumper No. 2 to “OFF.” The use of converters from other manufacturers has not been tested. Run the firmware as administrator. Connect to the RS-485 line instead of the Z-397 Web. Launch Z5Rupdate and select the COM port to which the converter is connected. In the “Serial number” field, enter the controller’s serial number and click “Check.” Then in the “Firmware” section, click “Load image” and select the desired firmware file. After that, click “Start update” and wait for the firmware process to complete. Reconnect the Z-397 Web converter and start GuardLight. The controller should appear in the “Controllers” window. If this method does not help, in the “Serial number” field enter the controller’s serial number, click “Load image” in the “Firmware” section, apply power to the controller while holding down the exit button, and within 5 seconds click “Start update” and wait for completion.
How to connect controllers to a fire alarm systemx
For network controllers Matrix II Net, Z-5R Net, Z-5R Net 8k, there are “fire” firmware versions. Firmware can be downloaded from the website on the controller pages. They allow connecting a fire detector (evacuation button) to the “Exit” and “Gnd” terminals. When the terminals are shorted for a prolonged period, the controller enters “Evacuation” (“Free passage”) mode. All controllers connect to the fire alarm detector or another switching device. Controllers must be connected in a common line through Schottky diodes to prevent mutual influence between them. The wiring diagram is available on the website. When Guard Light is open, all controllers will also enter fire mode when a detector is triggered on any of them.
The network controller stopped supplying voltage to the electromagnetic lock
This applies to all network controllers. A door sensor is either not connected or faulty. After triggering, the controller assumed that the door sensor was connected and open (door open). Therefore, no voltage is supplied until the door sensor is closed. You need to restore the door sensor or place a jumper between the “Door” and “Gnd” terminals if there is no sensor. The controller will then resume operation. It is possible to use the controller without a door sensor, but if a network interference occurs, the controller may think that a sensor was present and it opened. In network controllers with software configuration in Guard Light, the door sensor can be disabled in the software configuration if not used.
Can a fire detector signal be sent only to one controllerx
For the Z-397 Web converter, there is a fire firmware version 3.0.66_fire. It allows transmitting a fire alarm signal from one controller to all others in the RS-485 line. The signal must come from a Z-5R Net controller with “extended” firmware. When Guard Light is open, all controllers will also enter fire mode when a detector is triggered on any of them.
What is the default time from card touch to lock openingx
Only the lock impulse duration can be set in the controller. Default is 3 seconds. It can be changed according to the controller’s instructions using a master card. For network controllers, it can be changed in the software (e.g., Guard Commander).
Is it possible to set the "antipassback" modex
Antipassback (pass restriction) is supported only by GuardNet and Z-5R Web controllers. Others do not support it.
The controller does not open the door, responding only with a beep.
The controller is in lock mode, activated with a blocking card. Remove blocking cards or unlock with a master card.
Can an external buzzer be connected to signal an open doorx
Only on network controllers with GuardLight software. The external buzzer duplicates the internal one. Configurable in the software.

The problem may be voltage surges due to long wires. Install a capacitor and a flyback diode as recommended on the website.

The controller may “think” the door is open due to a disconnected sensor. Disable the sensor in the software or install a jumper.
The controller does not request a master card and does not reset
Power on without a jumper, then set it to “Clear.” Press the exit button. While it beeps — short the required contacts.

The most likely cause is excessive cable length between the touch button and the controller, which may cause electrical interference or voltage drop. It is also possible that the touch button is not fully compatible with the controller’s input electrical characteristics. To resolve the issue, it is recommended to install an intermediate relay or replace the button with a dry-contact model. Additionally, use twisted pair or shielded cable to reduce noise.
Controllers installed at the site operate unstably: door opening delays, spontaneous activation, devices periodically disappearing from the network. Connected via Z-397 Web. What may cause these failuresx
Possible causes include unstable power supply, unreliable or oxidized connections, excessive length or lack of shielding on the RS-485 interface line, and absence of a terminating resistor at its end. Configuration or firmware errors in the Z-397 Web may also be a factor. Check the quality and reliability of connections, grounding, and compliance of line length with standards. Update firmware if necessary.
The controller recognizes the identifier (buzzer responds), but the electric lock does not activate. What could be the causex
The controller may be in lock mode, activated for example by a blocking card. A malfunction in the lock control circuit, lack of supply voltage, or broken connections are also possible. Check the lock control time settings, presence and condition of the door sensor (if used), and the integrity of the lock’s electrical circuit.
Is it possible to connect multiple readers to one controllerx
Connecting more than one reader to Z-5R or Matrix series controllers is not supported. For bidirectional passage, use two controllers, each connected to its own reader, with the devices networked. Alternatively, use a more advanced system supporting bidirectional identification and passage control.
How to reset the Z-5R Net controller to factory settingsx
To reset, disconnect the controller’s power, remove the jumper from the contacts, then power on the device. After powering on, place the jumper in the “Clear” (2) position. Press the exit button, and during the audible signal, short the specified contacts: top left and bottom left. After this, the controller will be restored to factory settings.
