INTENDED USE

The Hydro Test CONDTROL moisture meter is designed for rapid measurement of moisture in wood and building materials (wood, stone, concrete). It determines the moisture content of a material based on conductivity caused by water present in various materials. The value is displayed on the screen as a percentage.

OPERATION

Installing/replacing batteries

Remove the battery compartment cover. Install the battery observing the polarity. Reinstall the cover until it clicks into place.

When the indicator appears on the display, replace the battery with a new one.

Remove the battery from the device if it will not be used for an extended period to prevent corrosion and discharge.

Power on/off

Briefly press the button to switch the device on/off. To save battery power, the device automatically switches off 2 minutes after the last action.

Getting started

The measuring electrodes must simultaneously contact the material.

When working on rough surfaces, the pressure on the measuring electrodes may be increased.

When working on delicate surfaces, do not take measurements in a position that prevents you from seeing the measurement process. The measuring electrodes are sharp and may damage the surface.

Before measurement, if necessary, remove residual moisture from the surface with a dry cloth.

Perform measurements at several points and determine the average value.

Salts can increase the conductivity of water. For this reason, the measurement result may be distorted.

.

Measurements

Briefly press the button to switch on the moisture meter.

The display shows a moisture value of 0.0 %, the ambient temperature in °C or °F, and the selected material. To display the ambient temperature in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit, press and hold the button for 5 seconds.

(!) If 0.0% is not displayed after switching on, perform calibration—open the battery compartment, remove the battery, and press the reset button located in the center with a sharp object.

Briefly press the MATERIAL button to select the material:

NumberMaterial typeMoisture measurement range, %
1Wood6 - 44 %
2Cement screed1.4 - 7.4 %
3Dry screed0.0 - 4.1 %
4Sand-cement mortar0.8 - 5.1 %
5Lime mortar0.4 - 3.7 %
6Brick0.0 - 8.5 %

For measurements below the permissible range, the display shows 0.0% or Lo. If measurement results exceed the permissible range, the display shows H?.

Remove the protective cap. Insert both measuring electrodes into the material. Do not apply excessive force, as this may break the electrodes. After 1–2 seconds, the measurement result will be displayed as a percentage.

If the measurement is taken in a position where the user cannot see the display, press the button once to hold the result. The hold indicator will appear on the display. To take the next measurement, press . The indicator will disappear from the display and you will exit the data hold mode.

Upon completion, switch off the device by briefly pressing the button and fit the protective cap.

Possible problems and remedies

ProblemPossible causes and corrective actions
The measurement result is too high/low.Check whether:
1) the material is selected correctly (see the “Measurements” section).
2) the measuring electrodes are pressed against the material.
Repeat the measurement.
Lo or H? is displayed. The measurement result is outside the permissible range.
The display does not respond to commands.Check whether the symbol is shown on the display.
Press the button.
The display is barely legible. The battery is discharged. Replace the battery with a new one.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

(!) Attention! The device is a precision instrument and requires careful handling. Compliance with the following recommendations will extend its service life:

- Protect the device from impacts, drops, and strong vibrations; do not allow moisture, dust, or foreign objects to enter the device.

- If water enters the device, first remove the batteries and then contact a service center.

- Do not store or use the device for extended periods in conditions of high humidity.

- Do not store the device in cold rooms at temperatures below -10°C. After storage at low temperatures and transfer to a warm room, the device warms up, which may cause condensation inside and damage microcircuits.

- Avoid direct sunlight on the device, as well as prolonged exposure to the sun and high temperatures.

- Clean the device with a soft damp cloth moistened with a soap solution. The use of cleaning solvents and abrasive materials is prohibited.

(!) Failure to follow the rules below may lead to electrolyte leakage from the batteries and damage to the device:

- Remove the batteries from the device if it will not be used for a long time.

- Do not leave discharged batteries in the device.

- Do not allow the batteries to heat up to avoid the risk of explosion and electrolyte leakage. If liquid contacts the skin, immediately wash the affected area with soap and water. In case of eye contact, rinse with clean water for 10 minutes and then consult a physician.

DISPOSAL

Tools, accessories, and packaging that have reached the end of their service life must be disposed of in accordance with the laws of your country.

Do not dispose of accumulators/batteries with household waste or throw them into fire or water. Accumulators/batteries must be collected and sent for recovery or environmentally sound disposal.

For EU member states only:

Do not dispose of tools with household waste! In accordance with European Directive 2002/96/EC on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its transposition into national law, measuring instruments that have reached the end of their service life must be collected separately and sent for environmentally sound waste recovery. Faulty or exhausted accumulators/batteries must be disposed of in accordance with Directive 2006/66/EC.
