W3230 Temperature Controller Operating Instructions
1. Description
The programmable thermostat model W3230 is designed to control temperatures ranging from -50°C to +120°C. It can operate with either a heater or a cooler. The thermostat is equipped with two three-digit LED displays, a relay status LED indicator, three control buttons plus a power button, an external temperature sensor, terminals “K0/K1” for load connection, and “VCC/GND” for power input (110-220V AC). The LED display shows the current measured temperature.

Load connection: single-channel electromagnetic relay (10A / 220VAC; 20A / 12VDC). For higher loads, use a contactor or solid-state relay with higher capacity.
3. Preparation for operation
Connect an AC power source (110–220 V) to the VCC and GND terminals.
Connect the load to terminals “S0” and “S1” (connected in series with the power line of the controlled device).
After supplying power to “VCC” and “GND”, the LED display will show the current temperature measured by the external probe.
Indicator behavior: blinking indicates start-up delay; steady light means the relay is closed. Display LL indicates an open circuit (check sensor connection); HH means values are outside the measurement range, the relay will be forced open; the display will flash to signal high temperature.
4. Setting the target temperature
To set the control temperature, briefly press the “SET” button. Use the “+” or “-” buttons to adjust the target temperature, then press “SET” again, or wait 5 seconds without pressing any button to confirm.
5. Programming
To enter programming mode, hold the “SET” button for 5 seconds. Use “+” or “-” to select a parameter code (P0...P8) from the parameter table. To change its value, press “SET” again, then use “+” or “-” to adjust. Save by holding “SET”, or wait 5 seconds without pressing any button.

Cooling and heating mode P0
Press and hold SET for 5 seconds to display P0,
press SET once to set the operating mode,
use + or - to change between [Heating mode H] and [Cooling mode C],
press SET once to return; long press or no button press for 10 seconds and the controller will confirm automatically.
Cooling mode: when the measured temperature value ≥ the set point, the cooling relay closes and the cooler turns on; when the measured temperature value ≤ the set point – hysteresis value, the cooling relay opens and the cooler turns off.
Heating mode: when the measured temperature value ≤ the set point, the heating relay closes and the heater turns on; when the measured temperature value ≥ the set point + hysteresis, the heating relay opens and the heater turns off.
Setting hysteresis P1
Press and hold SET for 5 seconds to display P0,
use + or - to switch to P1,
press SET once to return the difference,
use + or - to set the difference from 0.1 to 15,
press SET once when finished, or wait 10 seconds with no button press and the controller will confirm automatically.
Cooling mode: when the measured temperature value ≥ the set point, the relay closes and the cooler starts; when the measured temperature value ≤ the set point – hysteresis value, the relay opens and the cooler turns off.
Example: if the ambient temperature is 30°C, the set value is 25°C, and the hysteresis is set to 2°C. After start, the relay closes and turns on the cooler. When cooling reaches 23°C, the relay opens and the cooler turns off. As the temperature rises back to 25°C, the relay closes again and the cooler starts, keeping the temperature from exceeding 25°C.
Heating mode: when the measured temperature value ≤ the set point, the relay closes and the heater turns on; when the measured temperature value ≥ the set point + hysteresis, the relay opens and the heater turns off.
Example: if the ambient temperature is 10°C, the set value is 25°C, and the hysteresis is set to 2°C. After powering on, the relay closes and turns on the heater. When heating reaches 27°C, the relay opens and the heater turns off. As the temperature drops back to 25°C, the relay closes again and the heater starts, keeping the temperature no lower than 25°C.
P2 Upper temperature limit
To prevent overheating caused by malfunction, the thermostat has an upper limit function, restricting the highest adjustable temperature value.
Press and hold SET for 5 seconds to display P0,
use + or - to switch to P2,
press SET once to set the upper limit,
use + or - to set the highest allowed temperature, maximum 110°C,
press SET once when finished, or wait 10 seconds with no button press and the controller will confirm automatically.
Example: if the upper limit is set to 60, the set point cannot be adjusted above 60°C. To increase the target temperature, first adjust the upper limit setting.
P3 Lower temperature limit
To prevent freezing caused by equipment malfunction, the thermostat has a lower limit function, restricting the lowest adjustable temperature value.
Press and hold SET for 5 seconds to display P0,
use + or - to switch to P3,
press SET once to set the lower limit,
use + or - to set the lowest allowed temperature, minimum -50°C,
press SET once when finished, or wait 10 seconds with no button press and the controller will confirm automatically.
Example: if the lower limit is set to 2, the set point cannot be adjusted below 2°C. To reduce the set temperature further, the lower limit must be changed first.
Temperature correction P4
When the measured temperature deviates from the standard or due to specific equipment requirements, this function is used for correction. Corrected temperature = original temperature + correction value (range -7.0 ~ +7.0).
Press and hold SET for 5 seconds to display P0,
press + or - to switch to P4,
press SET once to enter correction,
press + or - to adjust the correction value,
press SET once when finished, or long press / wait 10 seconds with no action to automatically confirm.
Example: normal display shows 25°C. With correction set to 0, it shows 25°C. If correction is set to +1.5, display shows 26.5°C. If correction is set to -1.5, display shows 23.5°C.
Startup delay P5 (unit: minutes)
When a cooler or heater requires delayed startup, this function can be enabled to extend the service life of the device.
Press and hold SET for 5 seconds to display P0,
press + or - to switch to P5,
press SET once to set delay time in minutes,
press + or - to set between 0–10 minutes,
press SET once when finished, or wait 10 seconds with no action and the controller will confirm automatically.
Cooling mode: at power-on, if current temperature ≥ set point, cooling does not start immediately, but only after the set delay time.
Heating mode: at power-on, if current temperature ≤ set point, heating does not start immediately, but only after the set delay time.
If the idle time between two startups exceeds the set delay, the cooler/heater starts immediately. If the idle time is shorter, the unit will wait until the delay time passes before restarting. Delay is counted from the moment of shutdown.
Example: delay set to 5 minutes in cooling mode. When powered on, the cooler waits 5 minutes before starting. After reaching the target temperature, the cooler stops, the timer starts counting. At the next startup, if 5 minutes have not passed, the unit waits until the timer ends. The LED blinks during delay.
If the delay is set to 0, it functions as shutdown delay.
Saving settings
If you want to save configuration, set P7 to ON. Then, when temperature is set and power is turned off, the last settings are saved automatically.
Restoring factory defaults
If thermostat parameters are set incorrectly, use this function to restore factory defaults. With the device powered off, press and hold + and - simultaneously. Then power on, and all parameters will reset to defaults.
