Assembly
(!) You will need a Phillips screwdriver.
1. Carefully remove all parts from the package and check if everything is intact. If any parts are damaged, immediately notify the seller from whom the purchase was made.
2. Place the sand filter on a solid, flat base, preferably on a concrete block. Position the sand filter so that the fittings and control valve are easily accessible for operation and maintenance.
3. Standard EN60335-2-41 TEST requires vertical installation of the sand filter on the ground or on a wooden or concrete base before use to prevent accidental tipping. The weight of the assembled sand filter exceeds 18 kg. Mounting holes must have a diameter of 8 mm and be spaced 285 mm apart. Use two bolts with nuts up to 8 mm in diameter to secure the sand filter to the base.
4. Loosen the clamp and remove the tank cover.
5. Install the tube into the filters mesh bottom.
6. Fill the filter tank with sand or synthetic filtering material.
(!) The level of the filtering material must be between the min and max marks.
(!) Do not allow any material to enter the central tube.
7. Place the tank cover back on and secure it to the tank with the clamp.
(!) Do not allow sand or other substances to get on the sealing gasket.
8. Install the flow regulator on the tank cover and secure it with the clamp.
(!) The CC fittings must be aligned vertically.
9. Connect the CC fittings with a hose. Tighten the hose ends with clamps.
Connection to the Pool
Use a 38 mm (1.5 inch) diameter hose for the connection.
A: Garden hose (not included). For draining, backwashing, rinsing
Operation
Description of the Control Valve
(!) WARNING: To avoid equipment damage and injury, always disconnect the sand filter pump from the power outlet before switching the control valve mode. Changing the valve position while the pump is running may damage the control valve and cause injury or equipment failure.
How to Use the Control Valve
Press down the control valve handle and turn it to the desired position (mode).
Control Valve Modes
The control valve is used to select six different operating modes of the filter: filter, closed, backwash, rinse, drain, and circulation.
Filter: This mode is used for filtering pool water and is set in 99% of filter operations. Water is pumped through the sand filter, where it is cleaned, and returned to the pool.
Closed: In this mode, the water flow between the filter and the pool is blocked.
Backwash: This mode is used to clean the sand bed; water is pumped through the connection fitting, then flows upward through the sand, and is discharged through fitting D.
Rinse: This mode is used during initial startup, cleaning, and leveling of the sand bed after backwashing; water flows downward through the sand, rises up through the connection pipe, and is discharged through port D.
Drain: In this mode, water is drained from the pool; in this setting, water bypasses the filter, is pumped out, and exits through port C instead of returning to the pool.
Circulation: In this mode, pool water circulates bypassing the sand filter. This mode is used when the filter is broken, and debris is retained by debris strainers.
NOTE
Ensure that all local and national regulations are followed when discharging water. Do not release water where it may cause flooding or damage.
When the control valve is set to rinse, backwash, or drain, water exits through port D.
Do not run the sand filter pump in this control valve position to avoid damage.
Do not set the control valve to an intermediate position, as this will cause water leakage.
To prevent water leakage, screw the port D cap onto port D of the control valve before using the sand filter.
Air Release
Press the control valve handle and wait until water flows from port D to release the air.
(!) NOTE: This procedure must be repeated each time the pump is switched on after winterization, servicing, and backwashing of the sand bed.
.First-Time Use Guide
Backwashing and rinsing are performed to prepare the pump for first use and to clean the sand.
(!) CAUTION! DO NOT RUN THE SAND FILTER WITHOUT WATER!
1. Press the control valve handle and turn it to the backwash function position.
2. Connect to the power source and run the filter for 35 minutes, or until clean water flows out.
3. Switch off the sand filter and set the control valve to the rinse function position.
4. Turn on the sand filter for 1 minute. Reverse circulation of water through the sand filter will start, and water will be discharged through port D.
5. Switch off the sand filter. Set the control valve to the closed position.
6. Refill the pool with water if necessary.
(!) IMPORTANT! During this procedure, water flows out of the pool and must be refilled. Immediately switch off the sand filter if the water level reaches the level of the pools inlet and outlet valves.
1. The sand filter is now ready for operation. Switch the control valve to the filter position.
(!) NOTE: To prevent the risk of electric shock, wipe the sand filter dry.
2. Operation of the sand filter.
(!) NOTE: The sand filter has started working in filtration mode. Check that water is returning to the pool, and note the filter pressure on the pressure gauge. The recommended working pressure of the sand filter is usually less than 0.25 Bar (3.5 PSI).
Sand Filter Maintenance
(!) CAUTION! Before starting maintenance work, turn off and disconnect the sand filter from the power supply; otherwise, there is a serious risk of injury or even death. As debris accumulates in the sand filter, the pressure gauge reading will increase. When the pressure gauge reaches 0.25 bar (3.5 psi) or higher, or when the water flow to the pool becomes too low, it is time to clean the sand. To clean the sand bed, follow the instructions provided earlier in the Backwash and Rinse section.
(!) NOTE: The pressure gauge is intended for maintenance purposes only, and its readings are for reference only; it must not be used as a precise measuring instrument.
(!) NOTE: We recommend rinsing the sand bed once a month or less frequently, depending on pool usage. Do not rinse the sand too often.
.Protective Filter Cleaning
1. Disconnect the sand filter from the power outlet and set the control valve to the Closed position.
2. Replace the strainer baskets with stoppers to prevent water leakage.
3. Remove the filter cover by unscrewing it.
4. Remove the protective filter and clean it from debris.
5. Reinstall the protective filter. Check that the hole in the protective filter is aligned correctly.
6. Check that the sealing ring is in place. Screw the filter cover back on.
7. Remove the stoppers and reinstall the strainer baskets.
(!) NOTE: The protective filter must be cleaned regularly. A dirty or clogged protective filter reduces the performance of the sand filter.
Lowering the Water Level or Draining the Pool
1. Switch off the sand filter and set the control valve to the drain function position.
2. Disconnect the hose from port A of the pool and port A of the sand filter and connect it to port D.
(!) NOTE: Do not forget to replace the strainer baskets with stoppers to prevent water leakage.
3. Plug the sand filter into the power supply to start the filter and remove water from the pool.
(!) WARNING! DO NOT RUN THE SAND FILTER WITHOUT WATER.
Winterization
In regions where air temperature drops to freezing, the pool equipment must be winterized to avoid damage. Frozen water will damage the sand filter and void the warranty.
1. Perform backwashing of the sand filter.
2. Drain the pool water according to the swimming pool user manual.
3. Disconnect the two hoses from the pool and the sand filter.
4. Completely empty the sand from the tank and dry all components.
5. Store the sand filter in a dry place, out of the reach of children.
