Purpose of the Device

Congratulations on purchasing the BALLU UHB-300/301/400 humidifier (hereinafter “humidifier”). It is designed to maintain a desired level of relative humidity indoors. Comfortable humidity is between 40% and 60%.

The humidification process is based on the “ultrasonic evaporation” principle. Water entering the chamber is broken into fine droplets by ultrasound. These microscopic droplets form a mist cloud, which a small fan blows into the room.

Low humidity indoors causes dry mucous membranes, cracked lips, burning eyes, increased spread of infections, respiratory diseases, fatigue, eye strain, poor concentration, negative effects on pets and plants, increased dust, and electrostatic charge in fabrics, carpets, and flooring. It can damage wooden furniture, parquet floors, and affect the tuning of musical instruments.

The high-frequency oscillations of the ultrasonic membrane are inaudible and completely safe for humans and pets.

(!) IMPORTANT!
When first switched on, the desired humidity level will only be reached after 7–10 days of continuous operation. This is because moisture is initially absorbed by walls, floors, and furniture. Only after they are saturated will the room humidity stabilize.

Filling the Water Tank

1. Remove the nozzle from the tank. If not, it may fall when the tank is turned over.

2. Remove the water tank from the base:
• Hold the sides of the tank and lift upwards.
• Unscrew the tank lid counterclockwise.

3. Fill the tank with tap water.

(!) WARNING!
• Do not add substances such as essential oils, fragrances, detergents, chemicals, hot water (above 40 °C), etc. Doing so will damage the tank and internal parts.
• Only fill with tap water. Other liquids will damage internal components.
• Do not pour water directly into the unit or nozzle.
• Do not hit or drop the tank. Damage may cause leaks. If the tank is damaged, contact service immediately.
• Refill with clean water daily and keep the unit clean.

4. Ensure the lid is securely tightened. The rubber ring must be in place. Incomplete tightening may cause leaks between the tank and lid.

5. Place the tank back on the unit and reinstall the nozzle. Without the nozzle, steam will condense on the top cover and surrounding surfaces.

.

Connection and operation of the device

1. Connect the device plug to the power supply.

(!) WARNING!
Use an alternating current power source specified in the technical specifications of the device. Exceeding the voltage leads to malfunction, which may cause fire.

(!) WARNING!
Do not use the device with a faulty power cable or plug, as well as with a loose socket. This may cause sparking, short circuit, or electric shock.

(!) WARNING!
Do not turn on the power while draining water or when the device is in an inverted position. This may lead to malfunction.

2. To turn on the device, rotate the steam output control knob to the right (clockwise). After a few seconds, steam will begin to come out of the sprayer. At the very beginning of this operation, the spraying level may be unstable due to the difference in temperature and water quality. Some time is required for the water to transform into steam inside the nozzle and for this process to stabilize. After 10–25 minutes of operation, the spraying level gradually stabilizes.

Setting the spraying frequency

Ballu UHB-300 Humidifier operation instructions

By turning the steam output control knob clockwise, you set the humidification rate. The more you rotate the switch, the higher and faster the humidification rate will be.

Water purification system

Tap water may be poured into the reservoir. The included filter cartridge softens the water and removes hardness salts.

Aromatherapy

Ballu UHB-300 Humidifier aromatherapy use

For aromatherapy, it is necessary to remove the container for aromatic oils and add a few drops of any essential oil onto the special pad installed in the container. Place the container back and turn on the device.

.

Shutting down the device

Turn the steam control knob counterclockwise (to the left) until it clicks. The device operation indicator will turn off. The device will switch off. Remove the plug from the socket. Automatic shutdown occurs at the minimum water level.

When the water level in the base reaches the minimum, the humidifier automatically shuts down. The operation indicator lights up red, indicating the absence of water. To continue using the device, it is necessary to add water to the reservoir.

(!) WARNING!
When removing the tank, water may remain in the accumulation reservoir. To avoid spilling water on the floor or furniture, dry the bottom of the reservoir with a towel before removing it. Do not drop or hit the reservoir when filling/emptying it. In case of falling or strong impact, the reservoir may crack and leak.

* At the first startup or after refilling with water, the filling indicator may glow red. In this case, the water passes through the filter cartridge, and it may take some time (1–3 minutes) to fill the working chamber with water.

Tank lighting – switching on and off

Ballu UHB-300 Humidifier tank illumination control

If necessary, the reservoir illumination can be switched on/off. To do this, move the illumination switch to the desired mode. The switch is located in the lower part of the humidifier base.

Ion exchange water filter cartridge

Ballu UHB-300 FC-400 filter cartridge
FC-400 filter cartridge

The device package includes a filter with ion exchange resin. Prolonged use of the humidifier without replacing the filter may result in white deposits on the device and nearby objects.

White deposits consist of calcium and magnesium, which are contained in ordinary tap water. When the ion exchange resin in the filter is exhausted, these substances together with the steam enter the room and settle on surrounding objects and surfaces.

Although these substances are safe for humans, in large quantities they can have a harmful effect on furniture. With the help of the ion exchange filter installed in the reservoir cover, calcium and magnesium are removed from tap water.

Filter replacement

The useful service life of the ion exchange filter is about 150 liters. Prolonged use beyond its service life reduces the ability to filter hardness components (calcium and magnesium) from tap water. As a result, the level of white deposit formation increases.

The standard replacement period for the filter is about 45 days, provided regular operation (humidification time — about 8 hours daily). Depending on usage frequency and water quality, the replacement period may be shorter.

The ion exchange filter is installed in the water reservoir cover. To replace the filter, remove the cover by turning it counterclockwise, and then remove the filter by pulling the cover and filter apart (see fig. 4). Install the new filter in the reverse order.

To purchase an FC-400 ion exchange filter, please contact the seller or an authorized service center.
