VHF (very high frequency) frequency band – frequencies from 30 to 300 megahertz. In radio transceiver specifications, this often refers to the 136–174 MHz portion of the spectrum.

The VHF frequency range is one of the most versatile. Transceivers in this radio spectrum range operate perfectly both in open areas and in urban environments. Compared with the Low Band range, it has less over-the-horizon propagation and therefore requires a significantly higher installation of a fixed base antenna to increase communication range.
