Display backlight control in air conditioners via the DISPLAY button on the remote control

DISPLAY (LED DISPLAY, DIMMER, LED) Function on the Air Conditioner Remote Control

Purpose of the DISPLAY / DIMMER Button

The DISPLAY button on the air conditioner remote control is used to turn the display backlight on or off on the front panel of the indoor unit. Pressing the button turns off the backlight, and the remote screen shows the “DISPLAY” indication. Pressing it again reactivates the display backlight. This function is auxiliary and does not affect the main operating modes of the air conditioner.

Operating Principle of the DISPLAY / DIMMER Function

When the DISPLAY button is activated on the remote, visual display of current parameters on the indoor unit is temporarily turned off. This helps reduce light in the room, especially at night. Pressing the button again deactivates the function, restoring the display of parameters.

Operating Modes of the Function

The display backlight function may be unavailable in automatic mode, as well as in dehumidification or ventilation modes. In these cases, the backlight and parameter display may be disabled by default, and the DISPLAY button may not affect the display output.

Function Control

To enable or disable the display backlight, press and hold the DISPLAY button on the remote control for several seconds. This will turn the backlight on or off on the indoor unit’s display. It is important to follow the operating manual and avoid holding the button for too long to prevent system malfunctions.

Design Features and Compatibility

Depending on the air conditioner model, the appearance of the DISPLAY button may vary. In some versions, it may be marked with a display icon or another symbol. If the indoor unit design does not support display deactivation, pressing the button will have no effect due to the technical limitations of that specific model.

Purpose of the Display Off Function

The main purpose of the display off function is to improve user comfort in low-light conditions, especially at night. Bright backlight can cause discomfort or disturb rest. The ability to turn off information display on the indoor unit ensures better sleeping conditions without affecting the operation of the air conditioner itself.

Compatibility with Other Modes

In certain modes, such as intensive cooling or turbo mode, symbols and indicators on the display may be turned off automatically. This is part of the device’s operation algorithms aimed at optimizing display during high-load operation. In such cases, controlling the backlight with the DISPLAY button may be restricted.

Operating Recommendations

It is recommended to use the DISPLAY / DIMMER button strictly according to the operating manual for the specific air conditioner model. Frequent or prolonged pressing without necessity should be avoided, as it may cause display system errors. The display off function should not be relied upon for reducing the device’s power consumption, as it only affects visual indication.
