Automatic Air Conditioner Control Function Using the Intelligent Eye Motion Sensor
Technology Overview
The Intelligent Eye function is an intelligent adaptive control system for air conditioner operation based on an infrared motion sensor. This technology provides automatic detection of human presence in the room and subsequent adjustment of the device’s operating parameters. The sensor, integrated into the indoor unit, detects the presence or absence of moving objects within its coverage area, enabling adaptation of airflow direction and switching the equipment to an energy-saving mode when no activity is detected.
System Operating Principle
When the Intelligent Eye function is activated, the air conditioner continuously monitors the room environment. If no motion is detected within the sensor’s range for a specified time, the system automatically switches to energy-saving mode. In this mode, the room temperature changes slightly—either decreasing or increasing depending on the cooling or heating mode—reducing electricity consumption without causing user discomfort.
Upon detecting movement again, the air conditioner returns to its original operating parameters, restoring the user-defined conditions.
Airflow Control Mechanism
The Intelligent Eye infrared sensor divides the room space into zones and determines where people are located. Based on the analysis results, airflow direction is adjusted as follows:
- If people are detected in one of the zones, airflow is automatically redirected away from that area to avoid direct air blowing on occupants;
- If motion is detected in all zones, the system can work in conjunction with the “Comfortable Flow” function, directing air vertically downward (in heating mode) or along the ceiling (in cooling mode);
- If no motion is detected, the air conditioner switches to an economical mode, then to standby mode.
Energy-Saving Logic
After a certain period without detected movement, the air conditioner gradually reduces its operational intensity. First, it enters energy-saving mode, adjusting room temperature by a preset amount. If inactivity continues, the system transitions to “Standby” mode, fully stopping the compressor operation. Operation resumes automatically when presence is detected again.
Control of Intelligent Eye Function
Activation and deactivation of the Intelligent Eye function is performed via the remote control. Once enabled, no repeated activation is required—the system operates automatically. The function’s status may be displayed on the unit or remote control screen.
Usage Features
The Intelligent Eye function not only conserves energy but also enhances comfort by preventing direct airflow on occupants, reducing risks of overcooling, headaches, and colds. This is especially relevant in rooms with prolonged occupancy such as children’s rooms, bedrooms, offices, and conference halls.
Compatibility and Implementation Variants
The Intelligent Eye function can be implemented in various configurations: from single-zone detection systems to multi-zone systems that more precisely differentiate presence in different parts of the room. The technology is not limited to specific equipment series and is found across climate systems from various manufacturers. Technical implementation may vary by number of detection zones, type of integrated infrared sensor, and logic for switching modes.
