HF – abbreviation for high frequency

HF is an abbreviation for high frequency. It can be applied to any parameters that define high-frequency oscillations – current, voltage, frequency, and their derivatives – resistance, power, and period. In radio communications, HF refers to the high frequency of alternating or pulse current/voltage or magnetic field oscillations.

HF – from 1 to 30 MHz (high frequency)
VHF – from 30 MHz to 1000 MHz (very high frequency)
SHF – above 1000 MHz (super high frequency)

HF bands usually refer to shortwave (SW) bands of 20–10 meters. When HF bands are mentioned in comparison with LF bands, HF typically refers to 40–10 meter bands. In some sources, HF bands are considered to be in the 15–10 meter range.
